How long can I drive with an electric car?

You can drive at least 400 km / 250 miles in our cars. We made sure the distances between your hotels are shorter, so you don’t need to charge when you are on the road. 

Can I rent just the Electric car?

No, you can only rent the car including a Green Circle Experience Package with hotels.

Does every hotel have a charging station? 

All Green Circle Member hotels have a charging station. If you book a Green Circle Experience, at least half of the hotels are members of Green Circle. Every day, more hotels decide to provide a charging station.

Are there charging stations along the route?

Yes, there are, Costa Rica is expanding the availability rapidly. We installed an app on your car’s cellphone with information about the charger stations. 

Do I have to bring my own car seat / baby seat?

We have some availability, but please do contact us to check if we have enough.

What if my car has a problem?

When you rent a car with us for your Costa Rica trip, we provide you with a number you can call in case of problems. If it is a technical problem that cannot be resolved right away, we make sure you get another car. We try to give you another electric Green Circle Wheels car, but in some cases, it will be another (regular gasoline) car. 

Can I buy a car and become a member of Green Circle Wheels?

Yes, you can, therefore your car has to have certain requirements. Read more about the requirements on our car-page

Can I use the car’s cellphone as a Wifi hotspot?

Yes, you can.

Is navigation included?

You can use a navigation app on the cellphone of the car. In Costa Rica, we commonly use the app Waze.

Does the insurance have a deductible?

Yes, the amount depends on the type of car. If you want to see the fine print, please let us know. 

Do I need to pay a deposit?

Yes, the price depends on the car. 

Is really everything included?

If you mistreat the car on purpose and cause damage, it is not included. In addition, you are not allowed to drive through rivers. Other rules also apply. If you want to know all the details please contact us.

How do you make sure the hotels are sustainable?

We visit all the Green Circle Member hotels to make sure they are sustainable and environmentally friendly.

How do you pick the causes for the cars?

The private owner of the car can pick the cause for the car. It has to be a social or educational or conservation/preservation project in Costa Rica. 

Can we visit the cause of our car?

To make sure the causes are able to focus on their work, currently, we do not facilitate visits to the causes. But we strive to inform and update our regular Green Circle Experience followers and clients about the work they do. Check our socials to find out more.

Who is the travel agent?

Your Costa Rica trip will be organized by the expert travel agents from Edventure Travel. All our experts live in Costa Rica and have many years of experience. They know the country inside out and would be happy to help you. Since 2007 we are registered as a travel agency, under Costa Rican law. 

Can I customize my tour?

Yes, we can customize your Costa Rica trip just the way you like it. For it to be Green Circle Experience it needs 50% Green Circle Member hotels, at least 10 days in Costa Rica, and with one of our electrical cars. 

How do I pay? 

Per bank transfer.

Can I book excursions with you?

Yes, you can. We can arrange excursions throughout Costa Rica. You can do this in advance or even when you are already in the country.

What is the best time to travel to Costa Rica?

  • December until April are the driest months, this is high season.
  • July until October are the wettest months, this is mid-low season.
  • May and June are usually still quite dry, this is low season.

What is the temperature like in Costa Rica?

That all depends on where in the country you are. The coasts are always hot, but if you head into the mountains you might even find some cold areas. 

  • San Jose and central valley 60-80° F / 16-27° C
  • Monteverde and mountain areas 60-65° F / 16-18° C
  • Arenal Volcano and northern lowlands 70-75° F / 21-24° C
  • Caribbean side 75-85° F / 24-30° C
  • North/Central Pacific coast & Guanacaste 75-85° F / 24-30° C
  • South Pacific coast 80-90° F / 27-33° C

Is Costa Rica expensive?

Costa Rica is not cheap. Expect to pay around US$ 2 for a big bottle of water. Dinner starts at around $10 in a cheap eatery (soda), and $15 / $25 in an average restaurant.  

What is customary when it comes to tipping?

5% to 10% in restaurants, this is usually included in the price. Ask the waiter if it is included or not. Tour guides around $5 to $10,- per activity, housekeeping $2 to $5 per night. 

Do people speak English?

Most people speak a little English, at tourist destinations, in hotels and excursions people do speak English. 

What is the currency in Costa Rica?

The Costa Rican Colon, but you can use US dollars as well.

What should I bring?

Comfortable lightweight clothing, sunscreen, mosquito repellent

Do I need a Visa to enter Costa Rica?

No, up until 90 days you don’t need a visa if you are from Europe, USA, or Canada. 

What does the word ‘Tico’ mean?

A Tico is a Costa Rican men. A Tica is a Costa Rican woman.

What do the words  ‘Pura Vida’ mean?

It means “Pure life”. Tico’s use it frequent and for anything positive. For example, when somebody asked them how they are doing, is Pura Vida a normal answer. 

What souvenirs should I buy?

Organic coffee, chocolate, and soap. Hand-pressed paper made from banana- or sugarcane plants. Colourful oxcart woodwork. We recommend you to buy your souvenirs directly at the source or at small stands to make sure the artists/producers get the right price. 

What souvenirs do I need to avoid?

Anything made from animals (butterfly, turtle, feathers etc.), seashells, coral or endangered wood.
