Certification

Green Circle Ecolodges are not obliged to be certified in any way, as certification is no part of the philosophy of the Green Circle experience. We aim to become recognized as THE most sustainable experience in the greenest country in the world. This implies that whatever certification we put in place, simply won’t be enough. It will be up to the crowd, Green Circle Experience travelers, Green Circle Members hotels, and anyone out there. To clarify, it is up to them to define which hotels can be considered to be THE most sustainable hotel in a certain region.

At this point, there is no firm plan of action on how to mobilize Green Circle travelers, founders, and followers. Above all, to define what specific criteria should be set to become a Green Circle hotel or lodge. Most likely, such a firm plan will turn out to be a utopia. Because it will turn out to be an ongoing process that will be adjusted at any moment in time. Importantly, the Green Circle Experience started out in 2014 as a self-regulatory experiment, and the intention is to keep it like that.
