This sustainable tour; 11 Day Green Circle Experience, takes you from the bustling capital city of San Jose right into the heart of nature. As soon as you leave the busy city behind, you will be surrounded by endless green flora and fauna on the Caribean side of the country.
All the hotels on this tour are Green Circle Member hotels. We selected these hotels because they care about Costa Rica, and do everything in their power to operate sustainably and environmentally friendly. Also, all these hotels give you the opportunity to charge your electric car for free.
You visit three nature destinations where you will be surrounded by the tropical rainforest as far as the eye can see. Not only are the lodges tucked away in nature, but they also do their part to preserve it as well. For example, both Selva Bananito and Maquenque Ecolodge have projects to educate local people about preservation.

A taxi is waiting for you at the airport and will take you to the eco-boutique Hotel Ave del Paraiso in San Pedro which is the hippest district of San José, the starting point of this trip. The hotel combines the proximity to San José hot spots but offers also a green recreation area for a relaxing start to your holidays. You can enjoy meals at the Krokavia café restaurant next door or try the huge gastronomic offer in Barrio Escalante.
In the morning you will have breakfast at your hotel. Afterward, you receive your 100% electric rental car before you take off to explore the beautiful country. Remember, every day you drive this car you support the local cause connected to your car.
On the last day of your trip, you will have more time to get to know the vibrant capital of Costa Rica.

You stay in a schoolbus changed into a comfortable room. And if the bus is not available you’ll stay in one out of five other fairytale-like houses that are unique in every sense, they are all built from recycled materials. We are proud to call this hotel a Green Circle Member hotel.
All around you hear and see animals like iguanas, birds, frogs, lizards, monkeys, and when you are lucky even caymans.
The private access to the beach – only 100m away – guarantees private bathing and relaxing at a pristine Caribbean beach where you completely forget about anything that might cause you any stress.

At Selva Bananito Lodge you are part of the high-quality conservation progress and efforts of the staff and will be part of this. Surrounded by a pristine jungle with all its charm and sounds, you stay in beautiful private cabins and enjoy delicious meals made from local produce.
As this land was formerly in danger of logging practices, the owners started this lodge as an alternative income source in order to protect the enormous area of 1200 hectares and with it the main drinking water reserves for the city of Limón.

Not far from the main road you find the historical hotel Hacienda La Isla tucked away in an incredible lush piece of the rainforest. The hotel rooms boast old colonial grandeur, the hospitality is warm and welcoming, and the nature is overwhelmingly pretty. While hiking the trails you will be greeted by the sounds of the birds and tiny colorful frogs. Also, don’t miss the special cacao tour.

We really cannot say what made the biggest impression on us with regards to this trip. Every day was great when we think back. And… they were also situated in the most beautiful places in Costa Rica.
