Together with Raymond Vijverberg, owner of Bliss Yoga and Marlou Stoltenborg of Edventure Travel, you will discover the hidden gems of this beautiful country, together with maximum 18 other like-minded travellers. Raymond has years of experiences in kundalini yoga and loves to share his expertise with others.
The yoga trip starts in San Jose, the lively capital of Costa Rica. We continue to the age-old rainforest of Sarapiqui, famous for its massive Ceiba trees and where the sounds of the forest will definitely surprise and impress you. The next stop is El Castillo, a small community close to volcano Arenal, where we stay in an inspiring and self-sustainable eco-lodge. We leave the green mountains behind to continue to the amazing tropical beaches along the Nicoya peninsula. This is a world-famous region for people who practise yoga and meditation, you will know why from the moment we arrive!
This all-inclusive yoga holiday includes; daily Kundalini yoga and meditation sessions, all transportation (round trip flight tickets & local transfers and transportation), all meals, several excursions and local travel assistance.
Welcome to Costa Rica! Upon arrival at Alajuela airport, you will be warmly welcomed by Raymond and Marlou, your tour guides for this trip.
We will drive together to a comfortable hotel, where you can relax and take some rest after the long flight. Here, you will have the time to get to know each other, but there will be enough time to relax and sleep before the journey really starts.
Time to start your yoga trip for real! After a good night of sleep, it is time to unpack your yoga mat and find our way to the city park of San Jose: your first yoga session in Costa Rica!
After breakfast, we will leave the city behind and drive to our next destination. This is a 2.5-hour drive, during which you will already get to know the diversity and stunning landscapes of Costa Rica. Before we arrive, we will make a very nice stop along the way, which will positively surprise you for sure! The accommodation for the coming days is located right next to 1.100 hectares of primary rain forest, which makes this place unique and gives you the feeling of being very close to nature.
During the days in Sarapiqui, you will have the chance to explore the stunning nature of the area. We will, of course, have yoga and meditation sessions with Raymond at special locations, but we will also go hiking in the rain forest and if you wish, you can also go kayaking on the river. Above all, there are also enough moments to make your own plan and take a moment for yourself. Would you like to have a nice massage (optional) or do you rather read your book while overlooking the rain forest? It’s all up to you and you can fully enjoy this peaceful location.
Today we will leave the primary rain forest behind and continue to the iconic volcano Arenal. We will drive through authentic Costa Rican villages, countless pineapple farms and very diverse landscapes, which are all stunning in their own way. In about 2.5 hours we will reach this famous volcano and if we are lucky, we will have amazing views overlooking the Arenal.
The accommodation for the coming days is unique in its own way. Not only because of its location in a beautiful area but mainly because the way this eco-lodge operates can be described as very inspiring. The lodge is fully self-sufficient and awarded as the most sustainable place of Costa Rica. Why? This is something you will discover once you arrive at this special lodge.
The lodge is a great place for people interested in yoga and meditation. They have a special yoga pavilion located next to the lagune: can you imagine yourself already starting your day with a yoga session at this place? Of course, there are many other activities to do at the ‘rancho’. In the direct surroundings are many nice hikes you can do yourself or check out the natural infinity pool… Other optional activities are horse riding or kayaking on Lake Arenal. Looking for something completely different? Volunteer for a few hours at the farm! Help to milk the cows, work in the vegetable garden or learn how to make soap. All ingredients to relax and enjoy are there!
From the farm to the beach! Today will be a fairly long day in the car, but this is nothing to worry about. You can again fully enjoy the large variety of landscapes and absorb all the beauty of the country. Our destination is the precious Nicoya Peninsula on the west coast.
In this area, you will really get to know why ‘Pura Vida’ is the most heard sentence in Costa Rica. The relaxed and easy-going vibe of the local people in combination with the white tropical beaches, make this place a popular destination for travellers and yogi. And did you know that this peninsula is one of the worlds few ‘Blue Zones’? These are zones where the average age of the population is 100 or more. What is their secret for a long and healthy life? We will hopefully find the answers when we are there.
In any way, Nicoya is an incredible place during our yoga holiday and one you will never forget. Just close your eyes for 1 second and imagine yourself on our private open-air yoga deck overlooking the Pacific….
During these days we will fully enjoy the sun and beaches and the have the absolute holiday feeling while having our yoga and meditation sessions with Raymond. Embrace the waves when you take a -beginners- surf lesson or soar through the treetops during a guided canopy tour. Or what about horse riding, hiking or stand up paddling? Everything is possible in this tropical paradise!
Unfortunately, we leave the Nicoya Peninsula and tropical beaches behind. After our last yoga session in the morning, we take the ferry back to the mainland and drive along one of the most beautiful highways of the country. This last night we will stay in a comfortable hotel in Alajuela.
You will have time to enjoy the swimming pool, have a delicious meal and think about all the great moments of this yoga holiday in Costa Rica. We hope that this yoga trip has inspired you, that you will remember all the good yoga and meditation sessions with Raymond and that you fully enjoyed all the beautiful nature, accommodations and activities.
On the 29th you will return home.
