The luxurious safari tent you will be sleeping in during your stay at Rafiki is originally from South Africa. The Boshof family moved to Costa Rica in the early nineties, but their South African roots still are visible in the Rafiki Safari Lodge. In the evening you can enjoy a traditional ‘braai’, a South African BBQ, in the open-air restaurant. A great experience and an unexpected mix of a unique jungle stay in Costa Rica with a South African touch!

One of the reasons to choose them is because of their tremendous efforts to preserve the surrounding area. Rafiki Safari Lodge is located on 840 acres of lowland tropical forest, which is part of a biological corridor.

From the lodge, there are plenty of activities to do. For example, you can go rafting on the Savegre river. This river is one of the cleanest in Central America and offers class II-III rapids. During your trip, you also visit a waterfall and have incredible views of the tropical forest.
Local people from the Savegre area still use horses as the main form of transportation. Therefore, this is a great place to go horseback riding with a local guide and explore the area.
You can also go hiking in the forests around the lodge. And if you wish, a professional guide can take you on a birdwatching tour and explain all the ins and outs of the jungle during your walk.
The highlight. Alone the road to it you will never forget 🙂 What a domain! Nice owner, good food, well-kept tents. Bats at night in the tent… what an adventure to get there. The only thing that was unfortunate was that we had booked the rafting earlier on the Pacuare, by the way, was super! But there was more to do in Rafiki. Rafting or riding, we finally chose for rafting again, which was very funny, a super nice guide who made it different from our previous rafting.
Then we also went half a day to Manuel Antonio, we still have seen a lot of animals and was not that busy, so nice, especially that you can also swim.
Once you have arrived at Rafiki Safari Lodge, you can not only enjoy the tranquillity and the overwhelming nature around you, but you can also go on an adventure! The lodge offers fantastic tours by kayak and raft. You will be accompanied by an excellent guide and also for a tasty bite and drink. Speaking of snack and drink, the owners of the lodge regularly organize a ‘braai’ for their guests, since they originate from South Africa.
