Corcovado Costa Rica

Corcovado Costa Rica

The Corcovado National Park is a must-visit for nature lovers. This park, located on the Osa Peninsula in the south of the country, is one of Costa Rica’s most isolated nature reserves. This unique piece of tropical rainforest is home to ecosystems that are not found anywhere else in the world. You will encounter animals that are not been seen in their natural surroundings in the rest of Costa Rica. Think about animals like the red macaw, the tapir, the puma, the jaguar and ocelots.

When you book this package, you will stay for three nights in a sustainable tented-camp located on the edge of the national park Corcovado Costa Rica. The trip to your final destination is cool already! From the town of Puerto Jimenez, located at the tip of the Osa Peninsula, you drive through the jungle, up to the village of Carate. Here ends the road. How to continue? From there you continue your journey on foot over the beach to the camp, a walk of about 45 minutes (your luggage is transported by horse cart across the beach). Can you imagine?

Staying in a national park

Staying in a national park

You spend the night in luxury tents (with a wooden floor) and from your hammock, you have a beautiful view over the quiet ocean and you can enjoy the sunset. Of course, there is also a restaurant and bar. In the tropical garden, you will often spot monkeys and brightly coloured aras.

From the tent camp, you walk straight into the national park. Corcovado is a must for anyone who loves adventure and the jungle. Part of the park was once mined for the cultivation of bananas but has been returned to nature.

Trekking to La Sirena

Trekking to La Sirena

It is possible to hike to the La Sirena biological station, some 18 kilometres from your tent camp. You can stay overnight here, but the facilities are basic (limited number of rooms with bunk beds) and are mainly used by scientific researchers. If you are up for some real adventures in the jungle, this is a great thing to do! For more information about this trekking, please contact Edventure Travel directly.

What can you see around Corcovado?

Tip from Anouk:

Because only a limited number of visitors per day are allowed to enter the National Park of Corcovado, we recommend you to book your tours to the park in advance. Reservations can be confirmed 1 month before your arrival.
