It is an ideal destination to travel off the beaten path and the outdoor sports enthusiast can indulge. Located in the mountains, you can enjoy the beautiful views and the region is home to various habitats for flora and fauna.
The region of Turrialba is formed by a city center, several small villages and a volcano of the same name. The area is characterized by agriculture; you are bound to overtake a tractor by car at some point. The region is known for coffee and cheese production. In addition, the rivers are also important for agriculture and tourism; with the construction of the La Angostura reservoir, a new habitat for several bird species has even been created.
As a visitor to Turrialba, you can do all sorts of things, there is plenty of opportunity for action. The Pacuare River is famous for rafting, opt for a canyon tour or explore the area between the Turrialba and Irazú volcanoes by mountain bike. If you prefer to take it a little easier, you can take a coffee tour or visit the Irazú volcano and the Guayabo monument. Put on your hiking boots and explore the La Marta reserve.
