The region of Turrialba is formed by a city center, several small villages and a volcano of the same name. The area is characterized by agriculture; you are bound to overtake a tractor by car at some point. The region is known for coffee and cheese production. In addition, the rivers are also important for agriculture and tourism; with the construction of the La Angostura reservoir, a new habitat for several bird species has even been created.

The Pacuare River is famous for rafting, opt for a canyon tour or explore the area between the Turrialba and Irazú volcanoes by mountain bike. If you prefer to take it a little easier, you can take a coffee tour or visit the Irazú volcano and the Guayabo monument. Put on your hiking boots and explore the La Marta reserve.
